NEW HOSE SLED
Captain Wilson and the men of No. 2 Hose Company are deserving of praise in endeavouring to make the Company efficient as far as the equipment is concerned. A couple of winters ago, No. 4 Company surprised the other companies by fitting up a more modern sled than they were using at their own expense. It helped the "Alerts" as NO. 4 was known very materially in getting to a fire at a much quicker pace than they had been doing. As there is a friendly rivalry between #2 and #4 Companies, Captain Wilson and his men would not allow this advantage any longer so they went to work.
Procuring the necessary materials, they made a new winter sled that even surpassed the one used by their rivals. The work had been done by the men of the company and they now had a hose sled that is a credit to the Department. When you find young men taking such interest in being efficient as these Companies have done you will always find good Firemen.

NEW HOSE SLEIGH The Pretty and Efficient Apparatus of #2 Company.
The alarm of the Fire this morning gave 12 Company (hose) an opportunity of showing and testing their new winter hose carriage. This is a very pretty sleigh both in design and finish. The body that carries the hose is long with high sides and the hose is laid in, in about 10 foot lengths instead of being wound upon a reel. This is the method of construction of the latest metropolitan hose carriages. The Branch Pipes are carried upon fixtures at the front end of the sleigh to which a gong is also attached.
The new outfit is exceedingly light and two men can easily handle it as was observed at this morning's turn out. The new hose sleigh has been built by the members of the #2 Hose Company, entirely at their our expense. It is a great improvement over the old rig provided by the department. It materially increases the efficiency of #2 and reflects much credit upon C. J. Wilson, the Captain and the members of the Company.
