Tragic Accident

    Motor Vehicle Accident - November 17, 1936

A bad accident occurred at the corner of Westmorland & Brunswick street on November 17, 1936. The front wheels of the Fire Truck landed 100 yards down Brunswick Street... one of two accidents the truck was in.

Driver Pete Finnegan (who served from 1932-1960) was thrown out of seat (there was no roof on the truck) and hit the house. The driver of the car (a UNB Professor, Dr Pool) died of his injuries two days later.

When the truck was new, the steering wheel was on the right of the dash, but after repairs, it ended up on the left side like most other motorized vehicles here.
